the way we live and work and play in the city. and we look forward to great events like a super bowl host or something like that, we're going to be able to give people a really rich amount of programs that they could access from here to santa clara to san jose. we can act regionally with our data and we can join and continue to be in the great city of san francisco. so, i want to thank all of the people, all of the different starting up companies here and those that are inventing with us, thank them for celebrating innovation month in such a exemplary way. and i think we're going to have a lot more to announce before this month is out, including on our way to the world series. thank you very much. by residents and organizations throughout the city to make san francisco one of the greatest places to live. the mayor's office of neighborhood services also known as mons focuses on neighborhood outreach and engagement. it is an honor to be here with community leaders who are dedicated to the same principles and are positively changing our communities. the effect that one person can have in a community is truly inspiring. and it's that inspiration that drives each one of us to go out there and be a part of something bigger. i congratulate every award winner here tonight and let's not forget that every person here has the power to make a difference. i want to especially thank daniel and his team for being such instrumental leaders here in city hall on behalf of all communities and neighborhoods in san francisco. with that said, welcome and enjoy tonight's event. to our new supervisors and welcome to city hall. i would like to echo commissioner sugaya's comments to you. i'm [speaker not understood] and urban architect in the city of san francisco and i do serve with commissioner matsuda on the subcommittee of the historic preservation and planning commission for the search of replacing the commission secretary. it is from that perspective that i observe her as a broad minded, open and totally independent thinker. i see her as strategic and extremely well suited as a commissioner where it is important to think independently, yet act in concert with others. it is for those very reasons that i consider her strength remarkable and recommend you to her for reappointment. thank you. >> thank you. are there any other public comment? >>> good afternoon, commissioners. my name is bob amagucci. i'm the executive director of the japantown task force and a board member of the san francisco japantown foundation, on which board diane also serves. i've known diane and worked with her for many, many years and have tremendous respect for her dedication to the

to keep wanting to volunteering and do it. we established a scholarship at city college for the horticultural department. and we have just gone gangbusters. we get good press and we get to see everybody's neighbor -- all our neighbors' gardens. because of the way san francisco s you get to be veuyer because usually you have to go through their garage or their house to see the gardens. and ruth gets known through the neighborhood because she's constantly peeking over fences and leaving fliers in people's mailboxes saying, do you want to be on the garden tour, and all this sort of thing. but anyway, so, we've -- just to show you how much the neighborhood has gotten to know each other, all the people in the portola, wave your hand. [cheering and applauding] >> and this is only a small representation. and six years ago i would say maybe a dozen of us knew each other, and now we know hundreds of people in our neighborhood. and we've become so desirable from a real estate standpoint, we have multiple offers on houses and they all go for over asking. and there will be four clean up days throughout this city. and the launch for the giants it was a really great event. and that was attended by 200 of our lincoln high school students. it was a really great event and i am looking forward to the upcoming three that will follow which will be other clean up events throughout the city. thank you. >> i just would like to, announce that commissioner fewer and i, vice president fewer and i were at the perfect attendance celebration last saturday at brett heart elementary school. the foundation puts on a wonderful, wonderful event and they had floors and they had lunch for everybody. the students all got a medal. and it was really a wonderful celebration and my thanks to the foundation for putting on, or helping us to put on such a wonderful event and also, just to on the giant's clean sweep. i just want to thank the mayers and the giants for including the students as part of the team and i think that this is going to be a fun activity for them this year and there is a lot of opportunities to both do the art projects and creative things around the clean up a
